The Medici Tour @ Florencepass: The rise of the Medici Family in FlorenceThis tour is focused on the influence of this prosperous merchant family onto the Florentine history from the 1430s till the family became extinct in 1737. Our guide will accompany you through the Convent of St. Mark, costructed with the patronage of Cosimo the Elder, then we proceed towards the Medici Palace by Michelozzo, prototype of so many Renaissance noble residences, then the wonderful Basiica of San Lorenzo, absolute masterpiece of elegance by the Renaissance Florentine genius Filippo Brunelleschi and mainly financed by the Medici family, as well its peaceful cloister. This tour ends with the visit of the grandious Medici Chapels, the majestic funeral chapel constructed during the Baroque period for the tombs of the last Medicis, embellished with spectacular hard-stone inlaid works, from which we also have access to another Michelangelo's masterpiece: the New Sacristy, where the divine artist simultaneously worked as architect and sculptor.
