Red Walk: Santa Maria Novella QuarterThis tour starts from Piazza della Repubblica - the very center of Florence - and proceeds westwards towards the spectacular Palazzo Strozzi, majestic example of private Early Renaissance Florentine architecture, and then we head to the Piazza Santa Trinita, with its beautiful palaces and here we visit the homonymous Church, rich of interesting frescopainted noble chapels. Ponte Santa Trinita, designed by Michelangelo and rebuilt precisely how it was and where it stood after World War II. After this we head down towards Piazza Santa Maria Novella, passing close to Palazzo Rucellai, another jewel of Renaissance architecture by Leon Battista Alberti, who also erected the wonderful façade of the Dominican basilica of Santa Maria Novella, we visit the interior impressively rich of arts and history: frescoes by Masaccio,Domenico del Ghirlandaio, teacher to young Michelangelo and Filippino Lippi are of huge artistical importance.
