The Medici Villa of Poggio a Caiano and Renaissance in the oldest textile city of Europe, Prato.

On Saturday, when traffic slows down, it is pleasurable, early in the morning, to get onto a bus taking us in 30 minutes to the little village of Poggio a Caiano, where Lorenzo de' Medici,  known as Lorenzo il Magnifico, wanted his spectacular villa Ambra to be constructed in the 1480s. After the visit of the gardens and of the majestic Salone di Leo X with world famous frescoes by Andrea del Sarto, Jacopo Pontormo and Franciabigio, we continue by bus towards Prato, the oldest European city, where unceasingly since the Middle Ages the local economy is founded on the textile industry. In Prato we will visit the Cathedral, which hosts celebrated frescoes by Agnolo Gaddi, Paolo Uccello and Filippo Lippi, the teacher to Sandro Botticelli and father to Filippino Lippi, and the church of Santa Maria delle Carceri, which was planned as an ideal Renaissance church and a description from the exterior of the Emperor's Castle, remounting to the 1250s.

Moreover, you can also visit the marvellous and unique Museo del Tessuto ( Textile Museum ).
