Florencepass has three different proposals to spend the 2013 Easter weekend in Florence, discovering the art and history of this wonderful city.
Saturday, March 30, 2013 – Grand (Walking) Tour: Art, History and Secrets of Florence
For the Easter eve, when the streets of the city center are a little less crowded, Florencepass offers a Florence walking tours, discovering cobbled sreets, palaces, bridges, squares, and churches.
Our walking tour covers both banks of the Arno river, and starts in Piazza del Duomo, with a visit to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, to discover the architectural marvels of the structure, and the frescoes and sculptures that it houses.
We will continue with Orsanmichele, a very peculiar construction which houses rich gothic decorations, which was built originally for the corn market, and was later transformed into the place of worship of the ancient Florentine guilds. Following the Loggia del Porcellino and the Basilica of the Holy Spirit.
The tour starts at 14.30 in Piazza San Giovanni, outside the Caffé Scudieri, and lasts about 3 hours.
Price: € 39 per person, with a discount for young people.
Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 – Uffizi Gallery and Vasari Corridor Tour
At Easter Florence is always crowded, so Florencepass proposes a safe place, full of art and history, from which peep the crowds of tourists huddled on the Ponte Vecchio: the Vasari Corridor.
Designed by Giorgio Vasari in 1565, the Vasari Corridor in Florence used to link the Palazzo Vecchio, the “office” of the Medici family, to the Palazzo Pitti, their new and luxurious residence.
Now it houses a valuable collection of self-portraits of artists coming up to the twentieth century, and is part of the Uffizi Museum, but it is accessible only during special openings, by reservation.
Departure at 11:40 am in Piazza della Signoria.
But if you need more art, you can start instead at 9:45 am (always in Piazza della Signoria), and join our Uffizi Guided Tour as well.
Price: € 59 for only the Vasari Corridor, € 72 + Vasari Corridor Uffizi Gallery. Discount for young people.
Easter Monday, April 1, 2013 – Guided Tour of the Cathedral Complex
For the Easter Monday we have a full program: tour of the Duomo complex, with Baptistery, Cathedral, excavations of Santa Reparata and Museum of the Opera del Duomo.
And finally, climb Giotto’s Bell Tower to admire Florence from above, away from the crowds…
The tour starts at 14.30 in Piazza San Giovanni, outside the Caffé Scudieri, and lasts 2 and a half hours.
Price: € 60 per person, with a discount for young people.
