The FlorencePass Vasari Corridor and Palatine Gallery, Pitti Palace
This new package designed by FlorencePass offers you the unique opprtunity to enjoy a guided tour to some of the major attractions in Florence: Vasari Corridor, Pitti Palace and Palatina Gallery.
The tour starts at 10:45am with a truly particular program: we will make you cross the Vasari Corridor, the passageway which served and still serves as a connection between the Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) and the Pitti Palace, which once was used by the Medici family as their private passageway and escape route. As in those times, it links the banks of Florence, Diquaddarno (northern bank) with the Oltrarno (southern bank), travelling right above the Ponte Vecchio.
While visiting the Vasari Corridor, you will have the opportunity to walk above the Ponte Vecchio, thus with a very unusual perspective and admire the hundreds of works in it, particularly the artists' selfportraits, from the oldest to the most recent displayed on its walls. At the end of the crossing of the Vasari Corridor you will find yourself at the Piazza Pitti and where after a break for lunch until 2:20pm (on your own, lunch is not included in the price) our professional guide will tell you about construction of the majestic Pitti Palace, residence of the Medici family from the mid 1500s and nowadays an extraordinary container of several museums, where to satisfy your interest in paintings, fashion, pottery and jewels. We will enter into the Pitti Palace to admire the splendid collection of the Palatina Gallery, with magnificent painting hanging in those rooms where once the Medici, the Habsburg-Lorraine and then the Italian royal family used to live and to exert their power. During the guided tour we will make you enjoy a true jump back into the past. The Palatina Gallery is infact a very relaxing museum, never too crowded, where the spectacular paintings and wooden guilded frames, frescoed ceilings and stuccoes will fascinate you. We will admire masterpieces by the greatest European artists like Raffaello, Tiziano, Andrea del Sarto, Rubens, Van Dyck and Caravaggio.
The tour ends at around 4:30pm when you can decide to remain on your own inside the museum till closing time.
