Stepping down into the Vasari Corridor will be the highlight of the morning tour, away from big crowds, invisible to all those people populating the streets along the Arno River and on the Ponte Vecchio, surrounded by paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries which belonged to the magnificent collections of the Medici family. The Vasari Corridor was built in just five months by Giorgio Vasari on the occasion of the wedding of Francesco, first born son of Cosimo I, with Joan from Austria in 1565, about one kilometer in lenght and travelling atop of the Ponte Vecchio to reach the Pitti Palace at the Buontalenti's Grotto. You will admire several world-famous selfportraits by Andrea del Sarto, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Sofonisba Anguissola, Rubens, Van Dyck, Velazquez, Charles LeBrun, Joshua Reynolds and the more recent by Marc Chagall, De Chirico, Annigoni, Rauscheberg and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
After exiting the Vasari Corridor morning tour ends at the Pitti Square in the Oltrarno Neighbourhood (Artisan District) where you will have your free time for lunch and for browsing around in relax.
At 2.30pm you will meet back with your guide to explore together the spectacular Palatine Gallery at the noble floor of the Pitti Palace, incredibly rich in stuccoes and frescoes on the ceilings, marvellous and unique pieces of furniture with tops with mosaics in semi-precious stones, and above all extraordinary masterpieces of Italian and European paintings signed by Raffaello, Andrea del Sarto, Rubens, Murillo, Van Dyck, Caravaggio, Tiziano. At the end of the visit your guide will depart from you and you can remain, if you wish, inside the museum on your own till closing time.
