Giardino di Boboli

A full morning experience immersed in the beauty and quietness of Florence’s famous Boboli Gardens and most fascinating ensemble of paintings, frescoes, pieces of furniture of the Palatina Gallery at the Pitti Palace in the Oltrarno Neighbourhood.

You start at 8.45am in the company of your expert English speaking guide exploring the ground floor of the Pitti Palace (Treasure of the Medici family) and then the enchanted Boboli Gardens, one of the most outstanding Renaissance garden in Europe, wanted by the Medici family immediately after they had purchased the property from the Pitti family. In the footsteps of great landscape architects of the past times you will follow the creation/evolution of this immense park from Tribolo, Vasari, Buontalenti , Alfonso Parigi, Giambologna and more recent architects and sculptors. The Boboli Gardens will amaze your eyes with their wealth of fountains, statues, monumental alleys and “green tunnels”, a pure pleasure relax, away from big crowds!

At 11.30am your tour continues with the guided visit to one of the most sensational painting galleries of Italy: the Palatina Gallery at Pitti Palace, hosted in high spectacular rooms, once inhabited by the Pitti, the Medici, the Hapsburg-Lorraine, the Bonaparte and the Savoy families.

Renaissance and Baroque paintings and guilded frames, tables with tops made with semiprecious stones, ceilings with marvellous frescoes and stuccos will leave you speechless. Major artists from the 1400s to the 1600s like Filippo Lippi, Raffaello, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Caravaggio, Guercino, Rubens, Murillo, Van Dyck just to mention a few.

At the end of the two-hour guided tour you can remain in the Palatina Gallery or, using the same ticket, visit on your own the Modern Art Gallery at the Pitti Palace’s top floor.

N.B. Rucksacks, large bags and large umbrellas must be left at the cloakroom. Photos without flash are allowed also at artworks!
